Silambarasan's "Idhu Namma Aalu" has struck gold at the Tamil Nadu box office. The movie has reportedly collected a little over Rs. 14 crore in its first weekend in the state.

"Idhu Namma Aalu" was released in over 350 screens in Tamil Nadu on Friday, May 27. The Kollywood flick had a good pre-release buzz as ex-lovers Simbu and Nayanthara teamed up again after a decade.

Cine-goers have been eagerly waiting to see how their chemistry on-screen. And, "Idhu Namma Aalu" got good response for the advance booking. As a result, the Tamil flick managed to collect Rs. 4.10 crore on its first day, Behindwoods reported. The movie enjoyed good occupancy for the morning shows and evening prime-time shows on the opening day.

"Idhu Namma Aalu" opened to positive reviews and this helped the Tamil movie to better its collection on its second day. It raked in Rs. 4.85 crore on Saturday. However, the Simbu-starrer registered fantastic occupancy on Sunday as it collected Rs. 5.10 crore to take its three-day total tally to Rs. 14.05 crore.

According to trade reports, this is the highest collection for a Simbu film in Tamil Nadu. His previous best was Rs. 8.5 crore, made by "Vaalu."

"Idhu Namma Aalu" has done well in A and B centres. But C centres are a concern for the makers as the performance has not been good.

The trade experts feel that the movie is expected to do well, given the good word-of-mouth. The fact that no big film is releasing in near future might turn out to be a big advantage for the film.

"Idhu Namma Aalu" has been written and directed by Pandiraj. It is a romantic-comedy film, which also has Andrea Jeremiah in a key role.
