The start of the most prestigious event in the cricket calendar, ICC World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand, is just a few days away and well known Australian performers are all ready to sparkle in the opening ceremony with their performances.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 12 February at Melbourne, while the first matches are going to be played on the 14 February between Sri Lanka and New Zealand and Australia and England.

The opening night is expected to be a glamorous event in the presence of Jessica Hilda Mauboy an Australian R&B and pop singer, Tina Arena, an Australian singer-songwriter, Nathaniel and Daryl Braithwaite, along with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra with Musical Director, Chong Lim.

These stars are going to enthral the audience during the night.

As in other major world events, it is the fireworks display, which are always a sight to behold and the organisers of the event will not disappoint the crowd, as a spectacular display will be there as well.

Victoria's Minister for Tourism and Major Events, said: "The ICC Cricket World Cup is returning to Australia for the first time in 23 years and Melbourne is truly honoured to host the Opening Event."

Jessica Hilda Mauboy, who was the runner-up in the fourth season of Australian Idol is ecstatic to perform in the special night.

"It is a privilege to welcome the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 to Melbourne and Australia by performing at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for the Opening Event in front of a number of teams, including Australia and England before their big opening match," Mauboy said.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Chief Executive, John Harnden said: "It is fantastic to be working with the Victorian Government on this world-class event.

"Tickets for the Opening Event were snapped up within minutes and we hope those attending will be even more excited with the calibre of artists revealed today.''

It is not only Australia, who will host the tournament, but also New Zealand who are co-hosts for the ICC event.

When the opening ceremony takes place in Melbourne, Christchurch will also stand host to another opening ceremony in the presence of former cricketers such as Stephen Fleming and Sir Richard Hadlee.
