ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Confidence Seeping Through as Ravi Shastri Says India Will Lift the CWC Title

One quality that Ravi Shastri does not lack is confidence, and that confidence has clearly seeped into every single player in the India cricket team at this ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Shastri's appointment as the Team Director has definitely had an impact in the Indian side, be that via just getting that natural confidence into the side or by getting a different point of view in the dressing room.

And Shastri, who has always been a no holds barred kind of man, also did not hold back when asked about India's chances of lifting this ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, having won their first five matches.

"We were never here to fill in the numbers," the former India all-rounder was quoted as saying by PTI. "We are not going to give any chances to any of our opponents and we are going to lift the trophy."

That is certainly the kind of attitude that will keep India in good stead ahead of more difficult challenges, with India rounding off their group campaign with a game against Zimbabwe, before readying themselves for the quarterfinals at the MCG, most probably against Bangladesh.

"It's a good position to be in especially given that from now on, every game is a knockout," added Shastri. "Once you start winning, you enjoy and feel relaxed, it's when you lose that you want to stay locked in the dressing room.

"Right now, the team is enjoying, they are playing [around, including] football and they are clearly a happy unit."

While the India batsmen have stepped up in style, as is their wont in this format, it is the bowling which has responded quite brilliantly, a major factor behind the world champions' resurgence at this CWC after a long, far from happy Australia tour.

India created a record in their victory over Ireland on Tuesday, with the team becoming the first ever to bowl an opponent out for five consecutive matches, something that has never happened to a side in blue before.

"The bowlers deserve all the credit," said Shastri. "Fifty wickets in five matches, it is a wonderful achievement.

"Lot of times, the batsmen tend to overshadow them and they don't get credit but it is nice to see the bowlers getting some credit."
