On Friday, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev's relationship once again attracted media attention when "The Vampire Diaries" actor favourited on Twitter a photo of his ex, sparking romance rumours.
Somerhalder soon set the record straight by tweeting he was hacked.
"Clearly I was hacked,not cool #hacked I'm in the process of finding out who it was-PLEASE be respectful with your comments.Truly respectful!"
But from the looks of it, fans aren't too eager to believe it.
"@iansomerhalder you are a complete embarrassment. You favorite a photo of @ninadobrev your friend of 6 years & costar what's the big deal?" wrote one fan.
Another, who clearly want Dobrev and Somerhalder to rekindle their romance, added: "@iansomerhalder you were not hacked get over it. We all caught you. Be more discreet next time you stalk Nina, sorry @Nikki Reed_I_Am !"
Yet another post read: "You were caught red handed trolling your ex and the whole internet will remember it forever thanks to you! @iansomerhalder."
Ever since Somerhalder and Nikki Reed started dating, fans have been eager to know the state of their equation with Dobrev, whom the actor dated for three years before calling it quits in mid 2013.
There have been numerous reports of an alleged feud between Somerhalder and Dobrev and Dobrev and Reed, who were friends before the "Twilight" alum got together with the 36-year-old actor. Several reports also claimed that Dobrev was trying to steal Somerhalder because his engagement to Reed made her realise how much she missed him.
All the three people involved in these reports have refrained from addressing these rumours, leaving fans confused as to what's true. But all three have indirectly tried to set things straight.
For instance, shortly after talk of an alleged feud between Dobrev and Somerhalder gained momentum, the actress posted online a picture of Somerhalder wearing a tutu on the sets of their hit CW show, "The Vampire Diaries."
Somerhalder and Reed too have tried to dispel rumours of a rift between them due to his onscreen chemistry with his ex-girlfriend by gushing about each other on social media platforms.
