Vikram's "I", which made a net collection of ₹137 crore in the first week, is unlikely to beat the box office records of Rajinikanth's "Robot" in Hindi version.
The Hindi version of the Vikram starrer has so far made around ₹9.6 crore in India. Traders were expecting to see whether "I" beats Rajinikanth's "Robot", the Hindi version of "Enthiran". However, it looks unlikely at this stage, reports Behindwoods.
Rajinikanth's "Robot" had made ₹20 crore from the Hindi version in India.
Now, "I", according to trade analysts, could make a life-time collection of ₹11-12 crore. This means that the superstar's movie will remain in the top position for some more time as no big movie, which could be dubbed in Hindi, from Kollywood is under production at this stage.
"I" Gets Good Response in Week 1
"I" is a big-budget movie and the makers are yet to make good profits. The Tamil movie has survived mixed reviews and had a good opening week. The key week will be the second week where the fate of the flick will be decided whether it is a hit or just an average movie.
The Vikram and Amy Jackson starrer "I" has done fantastic business in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. From these three states, it has raked in ₹57.5 crore (nett). In Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu version has done a stunning business, earning ₹31 crore in the opening week.
It is the same story at overseas centres; "I" has made good business in many centres. The flick has performed exceptionally well in the US, Malaysia, Australia and UK. We have to wait and see how the movie fares in its second weekend (23-25 January).
"I" is directed by Shankar and produced by Aascar Ravichandran. It is a romantic-thriller released on 14 January.
