Korean auto major, Hyundai is reviving on full gears in its efforts to gain a major foothold in the vibrant Indian automobile market.

The company, which launched its new Elite i20 in the premium hatchback segment earlier last week, is now eyeing the Indian roads with its upcoming ix25 compact SUV.

We have already seen enough spy shots of Hyundai's upcoming sub-compact SUV iX25 on the cyber space from China and South Korea, but this time the car was spotted testing public on India roads and surprisingly alongside the iX25 rival's Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

The latest set of spyshots comes from MotorBeam reader VR Muthukaruppan, who caught the car on test on NH7 highway in Hosur and according to him the ix25 is longer than EcoSport, and thus making it roomier.

Although in the images, the SUV is seen heavily camouflaged, rumours suggest that the car would pack features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls.

It would also take design cues from its bigger sibling Santa Fe. Underpinning Hyundai's Elite i20, the upcoming SUV is also likely to host wrap-around headlight clusters and hexagonal grille.

As far as the engine specifications are concerned, expect it to get 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre petrol engines coupled to 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic options.

In terms of dimension, the ix25 measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, 1,630 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. Although the company has not formally revealed anything about the launch and pricing of ix25 in India, chances are that it could debut in the first half of next year and is likely to get a price tag in the ₹8 lakh-₹12 lakh range.

Meanwhile, in India, the company's recently launched Elite i20 is getting good response from the buyers. Launched on 11 August, Hyundai new Elite i20 comes with a price tag starting price of ₹4.89 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

The car is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options in the country. The petrol model is powered by 1.2 litre petrol engine, which can churn out an 83 PS of power and peak torque of 114 Nm, mated to five speed manual transmission. And the diesel version gets power from 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine that can pump out 90 PS of power and peak torque of 220 Nm.
