The waiting period for Hyundai's latest hatchback offering Elite i20 has reportedly reached three months in the country due to the scaling demand for the model after a decline in oil prices since June 2014.

Hyundai Elite i20, the latest in the i20 line-up has been getting good response from auto lovers in the country for its new styling. Now a latest report of MotorOctane claims that the petrol variants of the model is enjoying a waiting period of up to 12 weeks in the country and the diesel version of the new i20 is much easier to get.

Launched in August, Hyundai Elite i20 has crossed over 56,000 booking in the country within four months. Under the hood, the Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine of Elite i20 can churn out 83ps of power and peak torque of 114nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 90ps of power and peak torque of 220nm.

On the safety front, the new i20 offers Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), four-passenger airbags and reverse-parking camera. Other features include multi-steering mounted audio controls, Bluetooth integrated 2 Din audio with USB and Aux-in and 1GB internal storage, rear AC vents, push start-stop button and automatic temperature control.

In March, Hyundai is expected to launch its new Elite i20 based crossover i20 Active in India.i20 Active ,a model which was spied in the country numerous times in its disguised and undisguised avatar is likely to borrow the same engine of its smaller sibling Elite i20 -1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor.
