Korean manufacturer Hyundai's compact SUV -- Creta -- has become yet another model from the brand to taste success in India in terms of sales. The SUV became the highest selling SUV in the country in the very first month in India.

The global response for the compact SUV is also warm and another prominent market in Asia for Hyundai is China. A report from noticiasautomotivas.com explains that Hyundai Creta, which is called as ix25 in China, now officially has a more powerful version for Chinese market equipped with 1.6-liter T-GDi diesel engine. The new engine comes with turbocharger and direct fuel injection developing 160bhp of power and 255Nm of torque mated to seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The T-GDi version of the ix25 in China is differentiated from the other models with new front grille, which comes with two chrome strips and chrome treatment applied to dual exhaust, integrated into the design of the bumper as well.

Meanhwile, the interior remains untouched and prominent features such as multifunction leather steering wheel, multimedia with seven- inch screen, automatic air conditioning and match button have been carried over from other variants.

Hyundai India sells the Creta SUV priced between Rs 8.59 lakh and Rs 13.60 lakh and the SUV is being offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine churns out 121bhp and 151Nm of torque, while the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine develops 126bhp and 259Nm of torque.

The less powered 1.4-litre CRDi diesel unit churns out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The entire engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 1.6-litre CRDi is also available with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai India sold 7,300 units of its new Creta in September, making it the best selling SUV for the same month.
