Update: Hyundai has launched its new Creta SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 8.59 lakh.

South Korean maker Hyundai has presented its hotly-anticipated compact SUV Creta to its expansive market in India on 21 July.

Ahead of its global unveiling tomorrow (Tuesday), Hyundai has released the official brochures of Creta, which detail the engine specifications and safety features of the upcoming SUV.

In terms of dimensions, the new Creta measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height and comes seated on a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. Creta has a 55-litre fuel tank and will be available in 7 exterior colour options – Polar White, Sleek Silver, Mystic Blue, Red Passion, Pearl Beige, Stardust and Phantom Black.

As for engine, the brochure reveals that Hyundai Creta will pack a 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine, which can churn out 123 PS and 151 Nm of torque and 1.6-litre CRDI diesel engine that is tuned to pump out 128 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque.

The third engine option of the new Creta is the 1.4-litre CRDI diesel motor, which is tuned to generate 90 PS and 220 Nm of torque. The transmission of Creta will be taken care by a 6-speed manual transmission while the 1.6-litre CRDI diesel will also get a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Coming to the variant details of Creta, the SUV will be available in 10 variants -with 6 trim levels - Base, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX (O).

The Creta will come equipped with features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps, static bending, leather seats, Audio Video Navigation System(AVN), five inch touchscreen audio system, smart key with push button start, rear AC vents, 6-airbags, Anti-lock Braking system(ABS), Electronic Stability Control(ESC), Vehicle Stability management (VSM), Hill start Assist Control (HAC), and reverse parking camera. The Creta will come with a 3-year/unlimited km warranty.

The Hyundai Creta, which will take on the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano, is expected to be sold in the price range of Rs 9.14 lakh to Rs 14.47 lakh (ex-showroom).
