HTC has cut the price of its current flagship smartphone, the HTC One (M8) a few days ahead of the announcement of HTC One (M9). The device is available on HTC's online store for $500, $150 lesser than its actual price.

The Taiwanese smartphone makers have come up with the deal to celebrate President's Day (George Washington's Birthday), which is celebrated on the third Monday of February every year, and it falls on Monday (16 Feb) this year. The company is also giving 25% off on Re camera with the discounted price standing at $150, and 50% off on Dot View Premium case ($25), Flip case ($15) and Double Dip case ($12.50).

Meanwhile, name of the next-generation smartphone, the HTC One (M9) is likely to be changed to "HTC One M9" (M9 without brackets), according to a report by GSMArena (SourceVia)

The HTC has not revealed the release date of its upcoming One (M9) smartphone but it will be unveiled on 1 March at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2015 (MWC 2015) in Barcelona.

The device is expected to sport a 5-inch FHD Display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocking at 2.0GHz + 1.5GHz, run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Sense 7.0 (TBD for Android version), and come packed with 32/64GB internal memory with 3GB RAM and micro SD Card slot, according to Upleaks (via GSM Arena). The report added the new smartphone will come with features like a 20.7MP main camera with Dual LED Flash and 4MP UltraPixel front snapper, 2840mAh Battery, support VoLTE, Carrier Aggregation and LTE Category 6 up to 300Mbps for Download, 50Mbps for Upload, Bluetooth 4.1, and BoomSound speaker.

It may be mentioned that HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR had earlier revealed in a tweet that the HTC One (M9) would come with BCM4356 wireless module, which is seen in the Nexus 6, and boast of a 20MP Toshiba T4KA7 camera. Bloomberg also claimed in a report that it would sport a 5-inch display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, and house a 20MP main camera and an HTC UltraPixel front snapper.
