OnePlus is tight-lipped on its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 5 (aka OnePlus 4) but several details, including its release date, features, price and others have been leaked over the last few weeks. It is expected to give flagships from other OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) a run for their money.

The OnePlus 5 is expected to have same screen size as its predecessors OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T -- a 5.5-inch full Quad HD display – but a huge upgrade is expected in other departments.

Firstly, the OnePlus 5 is expected to give a sharper display -- a 2,560x1,440p resolution compared to 1,080x1,920 pixels seen in its predecessors. It is reportedly coming with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor clocking at 2.35GHz, an Android Nougat operating system, a 6/8GB RAM, a 64GB internal memory, a 23MP main camera, a 16MP front-snapper, and a 4,000mAh battery.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, an Android Marshmallow operating system, a 64GB internal memory, a 6GB RAM, a 16MP Sony IMX 298 Sensor main camera with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, LED flash, 1.12 µm, an 8MP Sony IMX179 front-snapper with 1.4 µm and f/2.0 aperture, and a 3,000mAh battery under the hood.

The OnePlus 3T that was released in the last quarter of last year is not very different from predecessor except for a few feature upgrades. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based OxygenOS, a 64GB/128GB internal memory, and a 6GB RAM. It also features a 16MP main camera with Sony IMX298 senor, 1.12µm lens, OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation), f/ 2.0 aperture and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus, a 16MP camera with Samsung 3P8SP sensor, 1.0µm lens, EIS, PDAF and f/2.0 aperture, and a 3,400mAh battery with Dash Charge technology (5V, 4A).

If we are to go by the reports that appeared so far, the OnePlus 5 is surely a device to watch out for this year. It will have a significant upgrade over its predecessors – from design to RAM to camera to battery.

The device is expected to come with a price tag of $499 in China and $688 in other markets. It could be unveiled in June before releasing it in several countries, including India a few days later.
