Japanese carmaker Honda's Jazz premium hatchback now comes with airbags as standard across all trims. All variants of the Jazz, including the base variant the E gets dual airbags (driver and passenger).

The addition of the new safety feature has also resulted in increase in prices of the Jazz, which now comes with a price tag starting at Rs 5.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), reports TeamBHP. The prices of the Jazz have gone up by Rs 12,000. The feature was long overdue since the segment's other runners like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 are already offering airbags as standrad.

Launched in July 8 2015, the new Honda Jazz is offered in five variants in India. The hatchback comes packed with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate power of 90bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor, that can pump 100bhp of power and 200Nm torque. The transmission is taken care of by either a five-speed manual or a CVT with paddle shifters in the petrol variants and six-speed manual transmission in diesel Jazz. The petrol Jazz promises to give a mileage of 19kmpl and the diesel variant is rated to return a mileage of 27.3kmpl.

Recently, Ford has also equipped its EcoSport SUV in India with airbags as standard.
