Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a leading manufacturer of premium cars, has posted an increase of 18% in its domestic sales during the month of October.
Honda sold 13,242 units in October, as against the 11,214 sold in the corresponding month last year.
For October, the company's small car Brio's sales figure stood at 1,584 units, while Amaze and City marked sales of 3,482 units and 5,120 units respectively. In addition to this, Honda also sold 71 units of its sports utility vehicle (SUV) CRV. In October, the export of the company stood at 357 taking the grand total of vehicles sold to 13,599.
Honda's first MPV offering Mobilio registered a sale of 2,985 units in October. Honda also said that the company will start the second shift operation at Tapukara plant from November.
" We have clocked excellent sales during the year so far where all our products have received tremendous response," said Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd -- adding that "Starting November, the Tapukara plant will start operations in the second shift, thereby, ensuring better availability of the Honda City. This will also see full capacity utilisation of Tapukara plant."
Meanwhile, Honda recalled d 2,338 units of its hatchback Brio, compact sedan Amaze and sports utility vehicle CR-V. A total of 1,040 units of Honda Brio, 1,235 units of Honda Amaze and 63 units of Honda CR-V have been recalled in India, which were manufactured between September 2011 and July 2014 for airbag replacement.
