A new prototype of Honda's successful Amaze has been spied undergoing tests in the country, hinting that the Japanese auto maker is prepping a new variant of the sedan.

Auto enthusiasts in the country know that Honda is hard at work, as the company is preparing to launch its next generation Jazz and now it is also being said that the company is readying a CNG variant of Amaze.

MotorBash has managed to snap the prototype of this new variant testing and the new CNG Amaze is likely to make its entry into the market in coming months.

Since the Amaze is already in the market, there is not much to talk about the design and styling of the upcoming variant except the fact that car will get a CNG option and in the images also one can't find any styling changes. However, the bold CNG sticker on the rear glass of the car gives clear clues of what is in the pipeline.

Currently, Honda Amaze is marketed in the country with two engine options -- petrol and diesel. The petrol variant of Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine and gives a fuel efficiency of 18 kmpl.

On the other hand, the diesel variant, developed specifically for the Indian market, comes with a 1.5 i-DTEC engine that gives a mileage of 25.8 kmpl, making it the most fuel-efficient diesel car in the Indian market.

It is with Amaze that Honda made its entry into the diesel segment in India and it has been a success for the car maker in the domestic market. Further details of the upcoming CNG model remain scarce at this point of time, but rumours suggest that the model will be priced ₹40,000-₹50,000 higher than the corresponding petrol variant.

There have been rumours that Honda Amaze is also getting mild makeover in India with features like newly designed OVRMs, Combi-meter blue gradation and white pointer.
