Showtime's political drama "Homeland" will return with a time jump of two and half years in Season 5 and if spoilers are to be believed, then there is a possibility of romance between Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend).

During the PaleyFest at Dolby Theater in Hollywood, executive producer Alex Gansa revealed that Season 5 will take "Homeland" fans to Europe. "We're shooting in Europe, in Germany. We're gonna jump two and a half years forward," he said.

Meanwhile, creator Meredith Stiehm opened up about her interest in exploring a romantic connection between Mathison and Quinn. "I was a fierce advocate for it. I felt there was something in the air [between them] from day one," she said.

After the death of Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), the storyline of "Homeland" was always open for a power couple sequence between the two leads. The team even tried to explore it in the finale of Season 4, but the male writers were not curious to carry forward the idea to the next level, reported Variety.

However, several spoilers have already indicated that Quinn will be heading to Europe after the premiere of the upcoming episode. So the viewers can expect to see a power couple, Mathison and Quinn, in Season 5.

In the meantime, Gansa stated that Mathison will no longer be an intelligence officer and it has raised many questions in the minds of "Homeland" fans. When some of the participants at PaleyFest enquired it to Danes, she humorously replied, "She's making beer."

Executive producers Lesli Linka Glatter, Alexander Cary, Patrick Harbinson, Chip Johannessen and composer Sean Callery were also part of the panel.
