'Home Alone' actor Macaulay Culkin became the victim of a celebrity death hoax for the second time this year. The actor decided to prove that he is alive to all concerned in a slightly different way - he faked his own death.

Culkin tried (but failed) to debunk the rumours of his death by posting a series of images enacting a scene from the cult comedy classic - Weekend At Bernie's, by lying motionless in the arms of a bandmate.

In the movie - Weekend at Bernie's, two young employees try to pretend that their murdered employer is really alive, which makes the murderer come after the dead employer to "finish him off" while the two young employees keep landing themselves in comical situations.

The actor posted on the Twitter handle of his band Pizza Underground. However, the actor finally had to post a picture of him drinking punch on tour after the death hoax went viral. "We're on tour you silly people / @anchovywarhol's," he wrote.

Macaulay Culkin, who became a household name starring as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone and its sequel Home Alone 2, reportedly was killed by a totally bogus website pretending to be MSNBC, the American news channel owned by the NBC Universal News Group.

The false report claimed: "Sources are reporting that Macaulay Culkin, best known for his role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone and sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, has been found dead at the age of 34."

According to a Nottingham Post report, Macaulay Culkin's agents had to release a statement on behalf of the actor denying the hoax. It said: "He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. "He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."
