Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium is set to open in theatres on Friday, May 19 and ahead of the film's release, the makers held a special screening for the who's who of Bollywood. The movie has received overwhelming reviews from Bollywood critics.

The film deals with an important yet sensitive subject and that is the education system in India. Bollywood critics are raving about Irrfan's flawless performance and debutant Saba Qamar also impressed them with her acting skills. Many claimed that the film is relatable with an honest script and is a must watch for all generations.

The plot revolves around a boutique owner, Raj Batra (played by Irrfan), who lives happily with his wife Mita (Saba Qamar) and daughter Pia. While Raj is a simple guy, Mita is fashionable. The two wish Pia to get admission in one of the biggest schools in Delhi. What follows next is the struggle the parents face from the money-oriented education system.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, who helmed Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Hindi Medium is produced by Bhushan Kumar.

Below are some of the critics reviews of Hindi Medium:

Madhureeta Mukherjee of the Times of India said: "Irrfan nails it with a class act, playing a man torn between his simple, unpretentious upbringing and his new wannabe avatar. Saba, as the OTT, dominating wife is sheer delight onscreen. Dobriyal is superb and in some scenes, he leaves you teary-eyed. The second half gets over-dramatic and the plot seems quite convenient, taking ample liberties. The last chapter (climax) is stretched and predictable, but in the end, it drives home the point, exposing the inadequacies and loopholes in our education system."

Ahana Bhattacharya of Koimoi said: "This is a film with which every Indian student and parent will be able to relate. Kudos to the makers for highlighting the way education is being turned into a business (which only the rich can afford) in our country. At the same time, it points out the plight of government schools where the major concern is not just lack of infrastructure and facilities but also the lack of students. I go with four stars for this one!"

Rohit Bhatnagar of Deccan Chronicle said: "'Hindi Medium' is not a film, it is an experience! The film might come across as a children's film but it is recommended to each and every strata of society. A must watch! You will surely come out of the theatres with tears of joy."

Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day said: "While being crowd-friendly, the film lapses into simplicities, such as that of seeing only virtue in the poor, while the rich usually comprise pretentious a-holes. So yeah, to reiterate, as you head towards the end, the stretches turn into slips. But then you don't mind that very much, given that the medium is the message itself. And the picture very passionately makes a point that could well be a polished mirror to the audience before it. I'm glad I caught it."
