Assuming the role of a wife is a choice and Hilary Duff shared her thoughts on it.

While appearing on a podcast, The Love Bomb with Nico Tortorella, Duff said she doesn't see herself being married again after her amicable split with hockey player Mike Comrie last year.

The singer, who was once an influential voice for several teenagers across the US, defended her position stating that she's experienced it all and now wants to take things as they come.

"When we were deciding to get married, I was totally down and I felt totally ready. If someone chooses to not live a traditional lifestyle, obviously I don't care whatsoever. But some of my choices are more like, 'I got married. I had a baby.' That was very traditional. I do think there's a sweetness to all of that," she said.

Duff, who moved away from the public eye and focused on her family, clarified that her divorce is unrelated to her decision to not walk down the aisle again.

She added that she wasn't "shamed" when she split from Comrie but said that "marriage isn't for everyone."

The Sparks singer, who still shares a close relationship with former husband, Comrie, said she couldn't imagine going through this process with anyone else.

Duff, who is now dating personal trainer Jason Walsh, said she would consider marriage only if it mattered to the person she was marrying.

But for now, it seems as if she's taking baby steps.
