'He is the devil who raped me,' Woman Shouts at Uber Driver in Delhi Court

The woman executive, who was allegedly raped by a Uber cab driver in December last year, recognised him at a Delhi court where she had gone to record her statement before a magistrate.

The Delhi police referred to the brief encounter in the charge sheet field against driver Shiv Kumar Yadav. They mentioned that the woman came face to face with her alleged rapist when the police was taking him for his custodial interrogation on 8 December.

"The prosecutrix (woman)... Shiv Kumar Yadav ko dekhte huye pehchan liya aur shinakht karte hue chillai ki 'yahi woh darinda hai jisne mera rape kiya hai' (the woman identified Shiv Kumar Yadav after spotting him and shouted 'he is the devil who raped me')," IANS cited her statement from the charge sheet.

The police have cited 44 prosecution witnesses in support of its case in the over 100-page chargesheet. 

Yadav have been charge sheeted under Sections 376 (2) (m) (rape), 366 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code, according to The Hindu report.

Yadav will now be produced before a fast track court on 9 January where Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja will hear arguments to frame charges against him for raping the woman passenger on 5 December 2014.

On the night of 5 December, the woman took the Uber cab to return home in New Delhi's Inderlok area. However, Yadav drove her to an isolated place even as she dozed off at the backseat of the cab.

Yadav then threatened to insert an iron rod into her genitals, similar to the 16 December rape incident and kill her if she resisted his advances. He then allegedly raped her and after committing the crime, dropped her back home, after which the woman filed a complaint at a nearby police station.

Yadav was arrested on 7 December from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.
