Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has turned out to be his biggest hit till date. Looking at its pace at the box office, the movie is likely to break several more records. The superstar is seen as a kind-hearted, honest person in the film and his on-screen simplicity touched everyone's heart. However, Salman's real-life image became tainted, after he was convicted in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

The sensational case, with several twists and turns, saw him declared guilty and sentenced to five years in jail. The judgement came about two months prior to the release of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which is doing good business worldwide. According to industry sources, there has been a huge spike in Salman's popularity after the verdict, which helped the box office collection of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan".

Salman's 2014 release "Kick", which was one of his biggest blockbusters, made a lifetime box office collection of around Rs 230 crore in India. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has already crossed Rs 200 crore box office business at the domestic market in just nine days.

Although Salman was convicted in the case, which involved death of a person and serious injuries of four others, the superstar received huge support from Bollywood celebrities and his huge brigade of fans, who consider "Bhai" nothing less than God.

Apart from the hit-and-run case, Salman has a serious case of poaching against him, which is pending in the court.

Having been convicted in the hit-and-run case, along with the poaching case under process, one of the supposed reasons for the rise of "Salman mania" may be due to the possibility that the superstar will end up being behind bars soon. This fear among his fans is elevating the frenzy.

So, is "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" turning out to be the biggest Bollywood blockbuster by virtue of only Salman's stardom and the film's plot? Leave us your opinion in the comment section below.
