Taylor Swift's penchant for writing songs about her former boyfriends is well known, and whenever she releases a single, fans are quick to associate it to one of her exes.
Many believe that Swift's "Out of The Woods," which has a reference to the snowmobile accident she got into with One Direction's Harry Styles, and "Style" -- off her latest album 1989 -- are about the British singer, and the boyband is only glad to be an inspiration.
When asked how it felt to have Swift write a song about him, the 20-year-old One Direction singer said he was lucky. "We write from personal experience, and I think everyone does. So it would be hypocritical of us to be like, 'Oh you can't write songs,' And she's really good, so they're good songs. So, I'm lucky in that sense," he said, according to NY Daily News.
Styles and Swift dated only for a short time, but the British boybander is said to have inspired at least five songs since then. They got together in late 2012, and according to a Vanity Fair article, Styles constantly pursued her before she agreed to date him.
They went their separate ways after Swift caught him cheating on her, reports noted. Their relationship became shaky when Swift saw pictures of Styles making out with a friend, following which she immediately called off their romance.
But soon after Styles reportedly convinced her to take him back. "But the whole time she says she feels like he's looking at every girl," the Vanity Fair source said. When they were in London together, the boy band member "disappeared " one evening and "after that it was like he just didn't want to keep going."
Although their relationship did not end amicably, Styles has always had nice things to say about his former girlfriend. This is despite her having written songs bashing him, and mocking Styles during her 2013 Grammys performance of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" with a British accent.
Some of the songs inspired by Styles include "22," "We Are Never Getting Back Together," and "I Knew You Were Trouble."
