Actress Anushka Sharma turns 27 on 1 May. With "NH10," the model-turned-actress has now become a producer as well.

The "PK" actress has come a long way since she entered the film industry. She made her film debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra's "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi".

Not many know that the hardworking actress did not have to struggle much to begin her modelling career. While shopping at a mall in Bangalore, well-known fashion designer Wendell Rodricks spotted her at a denim shop and she got her first break.

She had never planned to be a model or an actress and her initial choice of career was journalism.

However, destiny took her to the entertainment world and now Anushka is one of the leading actresses of Bollywood.

"My relationship with Anushka has only become stronger because of that incident," he added. 

"Not many people know Anushka is the major reason why I was able to play in that Test series the way I did."
