Wishes poured in from several quarters of the world as India Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 66 on Saturday, 17 September. While PM Modi made a visit to his hometown in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to take the blessings of his mother Hiraba, social media buzzed and records were being made elsewhere to celebrate the Indian PM's grand day.

From Apple CEO Tim Cook and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to Indian film industry legend Amitabh Bachchan and industrialist Anil Ambani, politicians, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, artists and common people joined in to wish the Vadnagar-born fiery politician.

Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik made a wonderful sand sculpture in Mumbai depicting PM Modi and his Swachh Bharat campaign. Also, a world record was created after as many as 989 oil lamps were lit by Divyangs (specially-abled people) on the eve of Narendra Modi's birthday in Navsari, Gujarat.

Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel also flagged off a Khel Vikas Daud (Run for the Development of Sports) event in New Delhi on Saturday morning.

Former India cricket team star Virender Sehwag, who is known for his humorous takes on issues, also wished PM Modi on his birthday and asked him "to score a century in life and also make it India's century".

Sehwag was joined by plenty of other sportspersons such as boxer Shiva Thapa, present India team cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel as well as star Indian amateur-turned pro boxer Vijender Singh, in wishing Narendra Modi on his 66th birthday.
