A video leaked on social media shows the Gujarat police personnel vandalising several vehicles in a residential area in Ahmedabad and Surat.

One of the video from a CCTV camera shows the policemen entering a residential enclave in Shahi Baug in Ahmedabad and smashing the glasses of the parked cars. [View Video Here]

The policemen are then seen heading towards a lane apparently to destroy the two-wheelers parked there.

Another video from Surat, shows 13 policemen entering the Bhavani Road society around 11.00am and damaging vehicles. In the video clip, the policemen are also seen breaking glass windows of residence.

It is reported that the policemen also entered the residence of one Shailesh Goswami, who claimed that the police ransacked his house. He told Divya Bhaskar that he was sitting outside the house, located on the ground floor, when the police arrived.

Following the emergence of the video, the Gujarat High Court on Thursday ordered a probe into the alleged excess use of police force after violence erupted following an agitation by the Patel community demanding OBC status, ABPLive reported.

The Gujarat police has been asked by the court to furnish an explanation within two weeks. 

Gujarat has been on the boil since Tuesday night, after the Patel community's agitation turned violent. The protesters have blamed the police for triggering the violence by arresting the Patidar leader, Hardik Patel.

As many as nine people, including a policeman, have been killed so far in the violence across Gujarat. Curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad and Mehsana.
