Google has reportedly launched an online tool to assist users find the right Android smartphone.

The news comes days after Caesar Sengupta, president of product management, Google, in an interview with tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com claimed that close to 1,200 new Android smartphones were launched last year in India alone.

With so a huge range, there are many choices for users, making it difficult for them to pick the right handset. Here comes the Google's Android phone selector tool.

The new tool is ideal for newbies or less smartphone-savvy ones, who are planning to buy their first smartphone. It has got a very simple interface and few questions to know the user's preferences and dish out the top smartphones accordingly. 

As of now, the Google Android smartphone selector tool is available in the US; it is expected to be rolled out globally in the coming days.

How to go about in the Google's Android phone selector tool(Tutorial):

Step 1: Go to the Google's Android Phone selector tool link (HERE) and click 'Get Started'.

Step 2: Choose your preferences, whether 'Taking photos' or 'listening to music' or 'Gaming' or 'Social Media' etc... (Other topics include – ' Being productive', 'Watching Videos', 'Being on the go', Staying fit', 'Texting & instant messaging', 'Web browsing', 'Expressing my style' and 'Talking').

Step 3: Once you tick the particular feature, Google will ask more details. For instance, if you select Taking photos, you will be asked – 'How often do you take photos with few options', followed by –' What's important for your phone's camera?' >> Done. Then, you be taken to the main features' section so that you pick other features. 

[Note: Users must pick three prime features of phone for the Google's algorithm to find the right phone]

Step 4: Once you are done with the selection, a message - 'SHOW ME PHONES pop-up at the bottom center, directing users to pick carrier network (you can select this later as well).

Step 5: To help you fine-tune the selection process, Google gives four more options - 'Latest Phones', 'Price: low, mid and high', 'Size: small, medium and large' and 'Carriers'.

Step 5: Once you are done with the above procedure, Google's algorithm will dole out the customized list of top smartphones with key specifications best suited to you.
