Last year, Google announced that company's affiliated devices especially Pixel, Nexus and the Android One series, will get software (& security) support for a maximum three years. Now, the search engine giant has officially released firmware support expiry dates to its devices.

Google has revised the official Android support page detailing when its devices will get their final software update.

"Pixel phones get Android version updates for at least 2 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store. After 2 years, we can't guarantee additional updates," Google said.

However, for the Nexus, Android One and the Play series devices, its kind a bleak, as they will not be getting update beyond 2018 and some unlucky phones, they won't get any further firmware after October 2017.

The only good news is for Google Pixel series phone users, as the company promises to deploy security patch till 2019.

Google has not mentioned any specific software support time-line for Android One and Play series phones, but it did reveal that both the variants will get up to 18 months of firmware update after the device's launch.
