Gautham Menon has praised Simbu despite rumours of the actor being indisciplined. The ace filmmaker, who is directing Silambarasan in their forthcoming movie "Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada", has declared that the actor has the potential to become a big star in Kollywood.

Speaking to The Times of India, Gautham Menon admitted that at times Simbu turns up late but defends the actor saying that he makes up by putting in extra hours the next day. He says that they share good working relationship as they understand each other well.

"He is a very spontaneous guy. Considering that he had a lot of issues going on, and he was under a lot of pressure, he has done well in this film," said Gautham Menon.

Gautham Menon believes that Simbu has the potential to become a star, for which he should overcome minor issues like coming late to the sets. The director urges the actor to put more in effort, leave aside his issues and make it big in teh industry.

The "Yennai Arindhaal" creator added, "I don't want him to be a No. 2 or No. 4, I want him to be the No. 1 hero in this industry, and I know he is capable of that. But these small niggling issues surrounding him are bogging him down, delaying his success. He is a brilliant actor, and he has to work doubly hard and do three to four films a year."

Gautham Menon feels that Simbu should consider himself lucky for getting good breaks when many youngsters are still struggling to get into Kollywood. Hence, the "Vaalu" star should utilise the opportunity to make it big.

Simbu's career has gone off track in the last few years. As a result, he had only one release in the past couple of years. Due to personal issues and wrong professional decisions, the actor suffered some setbacks.

According to the industry observers, the actor, who is a self-proclaimed fan of Ajith, definitely needs to get inspired by Thala in terms of work ethics, commitment and dedication. If he doesn't changem, then the actor -- who was once billed to be the next big thing in Kollywood -- would end up being an ordinary actor despite getting a fantastic start in his acting career.
