A smartwatch that offers all the essentials of a smartwatch, and yet doesn't burn a big hole in your pocket? It seems like Fossil has heard us.

The American fashion watchmaker launched the first touchscreen smartwatch under its consumer electronics brand Misfit in India on December 13. Called the Misfit Vapor, the premium-looking smartwatch has been priced at Rs 14,495 and will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.

Talking about the watch itself, the Misfit Vapor has a classic round dial face with a 44mm stainless steel upper case that has been treated to a soft-to-the-touch satin finish. The round dial houses a 1.39-inch "Full Round" AMOLED display that offers a density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi).

The Misfit Vapor is an Android Wear-based wearable device and is powered by Android Wear 2.0 OS. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor that powers other high-end fashion smartwatches. The Vapor also comes with 4GB of onboard storage for apps and music.

The highlight of the smartwatch, however, is a "Virtual Touch Bezel" that allows you to navigate the watchface menu and applications and respond to notifications without obstructing the content on the display.

Apart from that, the premium smartwatch features all the necessary sensors like accelerometer, altimeter, gyroscope, Bluetooth, GPS, and an optical heart rate sensor, which give the watch the double-advantage of being a smartwatch as well as an advanced fitness tracker. There's also an inbuilt microphone to use the watch's call function.

The Misfit Vapor is also 'swimproof' water resistant up to 50 metres.

In terms of compatibility, the Misfit Vapour is compatible with all Android smartphones running Android 4.3 Jellybean and higher and iPhones running iOS 9 and higher.

The Misfit Vapor is available in different colour combinations -- Jet Black and Stainless Steel with black strap, Rose Gold with blue or beige strap and Gold with grey strap.

Meanwhile, Misfit had announced its entry into the smartwatch market back at CES in January this year where it launched the Misfit Vapor for $199 (approx. Rs 12,800).
