It is perhaps the worst-kept secret that Ford is preparing to bring a new Figo compact sedan and a hatchback to the Indian market this year.

Both Figo hatchback and sedan have been in the news for quite sometime now and a lot has been written about these models such as launch, name and engines.

Now the latest news that is coming our way from folks at MotorOctane is that the Figo sedan is likely to be named Ford Figo Aspire in India while the hatchback is likely to get the same name of its predecessor.

Expected to reach Indian showrooms by mid-2015, the powerplant of Ford Figo hatchback and sedan is likely to include 1.2 litre petrol motor and 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engines, which can generate a power of 89bhp and a peak torque of 204Nm.The diesel versions of the upcoming Figo models are expected to deliver good fuel efficiency with a five-speed manual transmission.

As for features, Ford Figo aspire and Figo hatchback are likely to get steering mounted audio control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and airbags and ABS.

Both Figo hatchback and sedan will be manufactured at the company's new plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

While the new Figo hatchback will be pitted against Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata Bolt in the domestic market, Tata Zest, Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Xcent will rival Ford Figo sedan.
