Bethesda has had an exciting 2015 this far, starting with the E3 reveal for Fallout 4. Sure, every Fallout game brings with itself a sense of expectancy and upgrades, but the excitement surrounding Fallout 4 has been something even the developers wouldn't have predicted.

From the addition of Dogmeat (our new four-legged friends in the wastelands of Fallout) to the detailed character customisation features, almost everything about the game looks promising. However, what we are concerned at the moment about is the in-game perks system.

A few days ago, Bethesda's Vice President of Marketing and PR, Pete Hines, sat down with IGN for an interview during gamescom 2015 to discuss the game's fresh and enhanced perks system,  which is also said to include about 270 available upgrades.

As far as the perks system for Fallout 4 is concerned, Hines stated in the recorded interview: "The focus of the team on Fallout 4 was to really play up the importance of the SPECIAL system . . . that it is really the core of the role-playing part of Fallout 4 . . . and to use it combined with the perks to allow for a lot more variety as far as characters that you can play, the choices that you make, and how you can make your character progression and development unique . . . there's so many different paths to what kind of character builds that you can have."

Hines went on to add that, for the game, players who will choose to initially buff up their strength to 10 points may be granted the ability to use a specific perk that other gamers might not have access to in the game right away, further demonstrating the host of diversified characters that will be present in Fallout 4.

Apart from that, as far as designing of the perks system is concerned, it will be somewhat similar to previous iterations in the series. It was revealed that the newly-made perks system would allows fans to select all the special abilities for their protagonist at the beginning of a campaign, alongside a single new perk that can be chosen with each level up.

But that's not all. According to whatever that was scripted by Gamerant from the IGN interview, it seems like players will "have the chance to better plan out our character's development by getting a glimpse at which perks come next in the pipeline as our experience continues to increase with each level."

However, Hines was just short of mentioning if fan-favourite perks such as Bloody Mess or Scrounger will make a return, so at the moment, it's anyone's guess as to what kind of new features will be added before the final release of the game.

Apart from that, Fallout 4 is said to scrap level caps and offer more than 400 hours of gameplay experience – but we are sure you have already heard about that. You can check out the entire IGN interview of Pete Hines here.

Fallout 4 is set to be released on 10 November, 2015, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Stay tuned for more updates.
