Sharwanand's Telugu movie "Express Raja", which was released in theatres on 14 January, has concluded the first weekend with decent collection at the worldwide box office.

"Express Raja" is a medium budget romantic comedy film featuring Sharwanand and Surabhi in the lead roles. The promos of the film have garnered a lot of attention and its hype helped the film sell its theatrical right sell at a record price. The distributors booked around 500 screens around the world.

But some in the industry were sceptical about its prospects at the ticket counters. They kept their fingers crossed to know whether the film will be able to compete with big-ticket movies like Junior NTR's "Nannaku Prematho", Balakrishna's "Dictator" and Nagarjuna's "Soggade Chinni Nayana".

With a good advance booking, "Express Raja" opened to decent response in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) on Thursday. Despite clashing with three big ticket films, the Sharwanand and Surabhi starrer maintained rock-steady pace at the ticket counters on the following days. The movie has grossed approximately Rs 6 crore at the AP/T box office in the four-day-extended first weekend.

"Express Raja" has also done decent business in other parts of the globe, where it is estimated to have grossed Rs 2 crore. The movie has collected approximately Rs 8+ crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. It has earned Rs 5 crore for its distributors in four days.

"Express Raja" has been made on a budget of Rs 10+ crore and it has already recovered 50% of its production cost in four days. The movie has landed in the fourth place in the T-Town business chart, while "Nannaku Prematho", "Dictator" and "Soggade Chinni Nayana" graced first, second and third places respectively.
