Manchester United have received a boost in their bid to sign a talented defender, with Marquinhos revealing he could leave PSG, while also admitting to being flattered by reported interest from the English Premier League.

The Brazilian has not quite been able to establish himself as an automatic choice in the PSG defence, since making his big-money move from Roma in 2013, with rumours flying around in every transfer window of a possible exit for the 21-year-old.

Marquinhos has started only seven matches in Ligue 1 this season, again, leading to suggestions the highly-rated Brazilian could leave PSG.

Manchester United are thought to be in the market for a defender, with Phil Jones, once more, struggling with injuries, while the likes of Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo are yet to convince in the position. Only Chris Smalling looks assured in the centre-back position, and bringing in someone of Marquinhos' talent could set United's defence for years to come.

"It's my pleasure [to be linked with Manchester United]," Marquinhos was quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News. "It means that I am working well."

The defender admitted he is frustrated at the lack of playing time with PSG, but also hinted he is only likely to leave the French champions at the end of the season, with Laurent Blanc's men well on their way to another Ligue 1 title, while looking capable of competing for the Champions League crown as well.

"Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting lineup," Marquinhos added. "But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management.

"I will continue to work to get my place. But it's true there will come a moment where I am older, you cannot just get used to sitting on the bench. There are six months left for PSG to win titles. After that, we'll see what happens."
