Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment" hit screens on Friday with not so good reviews by critics. "Entertainment" is a slapstick comedy film directed by Sajid-Farhad duo.

Apart from Kumar, the film also features a golden retriever, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mithun Chakraborty, Johnny Lever, Krushna Abhishek, Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles.

The comedy film has mostly received negative remarks from critics. The film is not all that entertaining as the title suggests, and one can easily avoid watching it, according to critics. However, some critics have said that the film is entertaining and will tickle your funny bone.

Check out the reviews below:

Mohar Basu of Koimoi.com said: "Entertainment serves trash in the garb of entertaining you. As competent as I think Sajid Farhad are, their filmmaking skills doesn't reflect their prowess over good writing. Jokes kept flowing thick for the first 15 minutes and everything after that was drab. How many times can you laugh over the 'Tere toh Jacqueline lag gaye' (prototype) joke? Akshay doesn't even near funny as he beats Salman in sleepwalking through roles.

"If you are solely depending on the dog's cuteness factor for relishing the film, I would recommend a bountiful experience at a dog show for you. Some films don't deserve audiences, after 140 minutes of sparse laughs and sheer drudgery, I can safely say Entertainment is one of them and take harebrained to another dimension altogether!."

Deepanjana Pal of Firstpost said: "Are you recovering from a lobotomy? Do you have the Ghajini-variety amnesia that makes you lose your memory every few minutes? Or do you perhaps have the attention span of a flea and a five-year-old's humour? If the answer to any of these is yes, then Sajid-Farhad'sEntertainment is perfect for you.

"In the course of Entertainment's 140-minute running time, there are a few amusing instances, mostly before interval.

"It says a lot about how starved for real entertainment this country is when Entertainment, with its stale jokes and stupidity, gets a laugh."

Rohit Khilnani of India Today said: "Akshay Kumar is impressive as always. He is in good shape and he plays his part with sincerity. Tamannaah does her fair bit in the scenes that she has. The funniest is the comedy king Johnny Lever who never ever fails to make you laugh. Rest of the cast is wasted in inconsequential roles.

"Don't go by the title, it's sure called Entertainment but only if that was enough!"

Shubha Shetty-Saha of Mid-Day said: "This film is child friendly. The humour is clean and not bow bow-dy. After a spate of films that thought funny is talking about someone's bow bow-el movements, 'Entertainment' comes as a refreshing change.

"Too much melodrama in the second half slows down the pace of the film. But all in all, a fun experience."

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "What makes ENTERTAINMENT attention-grabbing -- besides its distinctive storyline -- is the fact that it is helmed by Sajid-Farhad, who have penned several laughathons in the past. Naturally, one expects their directorial debut to be a rib-tickling entertainer.

"The writing is stuffed with uproarious episodes and a couple of them are indeed side-splitting. Akshay returns to the comfort zone [comedies] and expectedly, is charismatic, charming and vibrant.

"On the whole, ENTERTAINMENT is a joy ride that lives up to its title. Go, laugh out loud and get entertained!"
