Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment" had a decent opening day box office collection in India. The film grossed around ₹11.57 crore on its first day, despite receiving negative remarks from most of the critics.

The film, directed by duo Sajid-Farhad was released in 2,800 screens in India, but had a decent occupancy on the foremost day. Considering that it features Kumar in the lead, whose last film "Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty" was a blockbuster hit, the opening day collection is pretty low.

The film dominated the single screens in India, but poor occupancy in multiplexes affected its business slightly. The film opened well in North India and maintained the momentum during noon and evening shows.

In several circuits, the opening was better than Kumar's previous release "Holiday," according to Bollywood Hungama.

"Entertainment" was expected to get a tough competition from Salman Khan's "Kick," but the film managed to entertain audiences in theaters.

After a decent opening day, the business of the film is expected to grow on Saturday and Sunday. The film is riding high on positive word of mouth, which is expected to boost its income during the weekend.

Meanwhile, the film opened in the UAE-GCC (United Arab Emirates-Gulf Cooperation Council) region on Thursday and minted ₹79.37 lakh.

"#Entertainment opened in UAE-GCC on Thursday and has collected approx AED 475,000 [Rs 79.37 lacs] on its opening day. Good," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
