A police vehicle in Cairo was hit by a bomb near Cairo on Monday in which at least one policeman has been killed while 29 others have been injured.

The bomb blast occurred in Beheira in Egypt, as the police bus was passing through a village in the Nile Delta province, about 250 kilometres from Cairo.

"One policeman was killed and 29 others were wounded, including two seriously," Adel Khalifa, a health ministry official told AFP.

However, Egyptian news portal Ahram Online reported that two policemen were killed in the attack.

Isis has launched deadly attacks in Egypt in recent months.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the latest attack on the security forces.
