In anticipation of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub's first date on Saturday's episode of Kalye Serye, a reality drama parody of noon-time variety show Eat Bulaga in the Philippines, AlDub fans stormed social media, tweeting hashtag #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate more than 10 million times.
Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza), who have met each other only twice in two months of split-screen interaction, had their first date on Saturday after Yaya's boss, Lola Nidora gave them permission.
Alden had sought blessings from Yaya's parents before his first date and hosts Allan K and Ruby Rodriguez helped him prepare for the special moment.
The duo reached their date spot and "lunched on pugo, isaw, and wine under the watchful eye of a cardboard cutout Lola Nidora," according to Rappler.
However, the much-awaited date between Alden Richards and Yaya Dub could take a disappointing twist, at least that's what viewers will think after hearing the car crashing sound towards the end to the episode.
The first date ended after "Yaya Dub abruptly left to give Lola Nidora her medicine," according to GMA News Online. It went on to add that the "mysterious crashing sound of a car" created fears among viewers that Yaya could have met with a car accident while rushing out to deliver medicine to Lola.
However, it is to be seen if Yaya Dub has met with an accident.
Kalye Serye will continue on Monday, 21 September.
