PV Sindhu has got off to a blistering start in the World Super Series Finals, defeating Akane Yamaguchi in her opening match. Now, she will hope to carry that form against Sun Yu in her second match on Thursday.
Sindhu, after losing her first game against Yamaguchi, got into the groove and showed huge character to win the match in three games. This win will give her huge confidence when she squares up against Chinese star Sun Yu, who will also have her tails up after defeating the former world number one Carolina Marin in her first match.

With both players in confident mood, the contest is not going to be easy for any of the two stars. Both Sindhu and Sun Yu might have started the competition as they would have liked – with a win – but they will have to be consistent in the competition if they are to go all the way. This match is of utmost importance to both the players, as a win here will give the victorious player a huge chance to top the group with their respective final group match set to be played on Friday.
Sindhu, as one has witnessed in the past, is never shy from playing her aggressive game, drilling those incredibly powerful smashes to floor players. Sindhu will hope to come with a similar performance, but the Indian has to deliver when she comes at the net. Though Sindhu has improved her game at the net, all-round skills will be required against Sun Yu, who is a strong player from the baseline and the front end as well.

The two players met last during the title-decider of China Open where Sindhu emerged victorious, winning her maiden Super Series title. Sun Yu will hope to take revenge for that loss in this World Super Series Finals 2016.
The contest is going to be a tight affair, which would go either way. Their head-to-head record suggests 3-3, with four of their six matches being stretched to three games. It is consistency and character that will need to come to the forefront to spark a win.
