Italian motorcycle manufacturers Benelli's Indian arm DSK Benelli has increased the prices of its motorcycles by up to Rs 43,000. The hike in price has been initiated due to the increase of VAT in various parts of the country.

The most affordable Benelli bike, the TNT 25 standard version, is now priced at Rs 1.77 lakh, ex-showroom Pune, up by Rs 7,000. The TNT 25's price has also gone up by Rs 7,000 and it now costs Rs 1.83 lakh. The TNT 300's price jumped from Rs 3.03 lakh to Rs 3.09 lakh, up by Rs 6,000.

The TNT 600i ABS is the best selling model for the DSK Benelli. The model was previously sold without ABS and was priced at Rs 5.44 lakh. The current model is equipped with ABS and has been priced at Rs. 5.86 lakh, a massive Rs 41,000 increase.

The price for the TNT 600GT has gone up by Rs 24,000 and now costs Rs 6.15 lakh. The bigger models, TNR 899 and the TNT R, have also not been left out. The TNR 899 is now Rs 35,000 premium and costs Rs 9.73 lakh. The TNT R is now sold at Rs 12.11 lakh with a price increase of Rs 43,000.

Benelli, one of the oldest Italian motorcycle manufacturers, entered India in March 2015 after many of its rivals already made their presence felt in the country. Despite being a late entrant, DSK Benelli sold over 3,000 units of its bike, in which TNT 600i accounted for over 1,000 units by the end of August 2016.

DSK Benelli currently has 17 showrooms in India and the company is planning to add 15 more by the end of this year. Siliguri, Baroda, Bhubaneshwar, Vijayawada, Lucknow and Agra will see showrooms of the company soon and it will be followed by Nagpur, Raipur, Patna, Udaipur, Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram.
