Bollywood's current numero uno Deepika Padukone has several films in her kitty but "Shuddhi" is not one of them. Speaking to NDTV, the gorgeous actress dispelled alleged rumours of her being cast in the period drama.

"I have not been approached by Dharma Productions... I meet Karan (Johar) very often but I don't know what's happening on the project," the actress confirmed.

The denial comes in the face of the rumours of her being cast along with either Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh in the film. Speculations of the new cast surfaced after Hrithik Roshan opted out of the project and Kareena Kapoor's presence is in doubt.

Even Ranveer replied negatively to "Shuddhi" rumours recently.

However, the "Ram-Leela" actress is in consideration for a second project with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his ambitious film "Bajirao Mastani." Bhansali, it seems, is more than happy to cast Deepika opposite Ajay Devgn in the epic love story, reported Daily News Analysis.

Bhansali is presently scouting locations for the magnum opus and believes Deepika and Ajay will slip into the roles of the Maratha general and his lady love perfectly. If finalised, this will be Deepika and Ajay's first film together, though Bhansali has worked with both actors in different films.

The director had long intended to make the film with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. But the film fell on rough waters after the duo's relationship soured. Moreover, Salman and Bhansali, who worked together in "Khamoshi" and "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", have not been in friendly terms of late.
