Dasari Narayana Rao was suffering from many health issues and had recently undergone surgeries for lungs and kidney-related ailments. The 75-year-old filmmaker passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Dasari Narayana Rao began his career as a director with the movie Samsaram Sagaram in 1973. He went on to direct over 140 films in Telugu and other languages. He also acted in hundreds of movies, produced several films and worked as dialogue writer and lyricist. He was honoured with two National Film Awards, nine Nandi Awards, the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award and four Filmfare Awards South.
The news about his sudden demise came as a shock for people in the Telugu film industry. Many of them took to their Twitter handles to share their grief and offer condolences to the bereaved family.
