While they may not as be as skimpily-clad or glitter-covered as the guests at the MTV Video Music Awards, the stars trotting the red carpet at the Country Music Awards 2014 were dressed to kill, bringing out their fashion best in Nashville, Tennesse on Wednesday night.

While 48th Annual Country Music Awards marks the seventh time that Brad Paisely and Carrie Underwood are co-hosting the event, their chemistry lacks no lustre and the camaraderie they share resulting in a number of goofy unforgettable moments on stage, including an unavoidable Obama joke, mention of Underwood's baby bump, a truly weird parody of "Jolene" about the Maine nurse fighting Ebola quarantine and most importantly, Taylor Swift's switch to Pop from Country, also known as "Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder," or PPTSD.

"Drunk on You" singer Luke Bryan bagged "entertainer of the year" award, making the first CMA win for the 38-Year-Old. However, the true star of the night was Miranda Lambert, who took home four awards.

Taking her total CMA wins to 11 and putting her ahead of any other female act, Lambert was honoured with album of the year for "Platinum," single of the year for "Automatic", music event of the year for "We Were Us" with Keith Urban and female vocalist of the year, making it her fifth consecutive win in the category. Lambert's husband and fellow country singer Blake Shelton took home the corresponding male vocalist honour.

Dierks Bentley's "Drunk on a Plane," was voted the best music video and Kacey Musgraves' "Follow Your Arrow" won song of the year, while Brett Eldredge was named the new artist of the year.

The theme of the 2014 CMAs seems to be paired performances: Blake Shelton performed with Ashley Monroe; Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott with the Doobie Brothers and Hunter Hayes with Jennifer Nettles. Ariana Grande performed her hit single "Bang Bang" with Little Big Town, who were honoured as the vocal group of the year.
