BMW Motorrad on its twitter handle has revealed the launch details of its most affordable motorcycle twins in India. The German motorcycle maker has confirmed the launch of G 310 R during the spring season (March to April) in India. Adventure sibling G 310 GS will be launched in India in the second half of 2017.

The G 310 R has been developed in association with TVS Motor Company as part of a deal between both the companies. G 310 R is the first motorcycle of the BMW Motorrad manufactured outside Europe. The motorcycle is manufactured at TVS Motor Company's Hosur plant for domestic as well as foreign markets. G 310 R is clearly inspired by the design of the S 1000 R. The sporty headlight fairing with pronouncing headlight and chiseled fuel tank compliments roadster proportions. The motorcycle is powered by a 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The G 310 GS, the dual-purpose version of the G 310 R, is fresh from the oven and it has been unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan on November 8. It borrows design cues from the elder sibling, the BMW R 1200 GS. The new motorcycle features a newly-designed fairing, the 'GS' moniker on the fuel tank, a long-travel suspension, off-road friendly tyres and a new engine cowl. The motorcycle comes with the same engine of G 310 R.

Being a member of GS family specialising on off-road rides, the G 310 GS' forks has a travel of 180mm, 49mm more than the G 310 R, while at the rear the shock travel is also increased to 180mm, up from 40mm. In addition, the G 310 GS is also offered with optional luggage carrier, top box, centre stand, LED indicators, heated grips, tank bag, GPS support and GPS Navigator, all spot on for off-road rides.

Ahead of the launch of G 310 R and G 310 GS, BMW Motorrad will kick-start its India operations, which is expected in early 2017. It was reported that BMW Motorrad will launch almost all the high-end motorcycles during the brand introduction. The range of bikes for India will include S1000R, S1000RR, S1000XR, F700GS, F800GS, F800R, R1200G, R1200GS Adventure, BMW R Nine T and BMW K1600GTL.
