Vidyut Jamwal's action thriller, "Commando - A One Man Army" witnessed a good start on the first day in theaters across India. The action thriller dominated the single screens at the domestic box office and grossed ₹3.75 crore on its first day of release.

Directed by Dilip Ghosh, the film features Pooja Chopra in the female lead role. Vidyut, who shot to fame with "Force", received appreciation for his role, but Pooja failed to impress the critic. The action scenes in the film impressed the critics.

"Commando" had a good start at single screens of mass-dominated circuits as compared to multiplexes. It registered full occupancy in some circuits.

"#Commando Fri ₹3.75 cr. Excellent at single screens of mass circuits," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#Commando *morning show* City Gold Ahmedabad occupancy: 133, 95, very good... Satyam Rohtak full... Dibrugarh Assam full. #Commando 1st show* Maya Gorakhpur full, Novelty Lucknow full, Silver City n Movie World Ghaziabad full. Commando Indore multiplexes opening very good... Off to a flying start in morning shows," he added.

The collections at multiplexes were affected due to Ayushmann Khurrana's "Nautanki Saala" which dominated the plexes. However, the collections of "Commando" were slightly better than "Nautanki Saala" at domestic box offices.

The film's title was taken from an Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer and the plot is based on Hollywood's 1982 blockbuster film, "First Blood".
