Chris Martin's Coldplay concert in Mumbai has some unexpected competition. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will have their version of the concert to protest against the government's support to Coldplay.

After failing to get the Coldplay concert get postponed, the party will now organise its own Hotplay concert in the adjoining lanes leading to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), the venue for the British rock band's concert. The Hotplay concert will feature a traditional dhol band and will take place in Mumbai on November 19.

The Coldplay concert, which is put together by the Global Citizen Festival, is a charitable event and the purpose of it is to support poverty removal from the world by 2030. The British rock band along with several other activists will perform in Mumbai on November 19 and the amount collected from the event will be used in support of education, equality, and sanitation campaigns.

However, the NCP demanded the concert to be postponed stating that poverty will not be controlled by organising events like these. The party also said that the government gave concession to the band to perform in Mumbai to woo voters.

"Tickets of the concert will cost each person around Rs 25,000. Liquor will be served to all those attending the concert. Despite that, the state government has granted several concessions," NCP spokesman Nawab Malik told the Hindustan Times.

"You can our performance for free. No liquor will be served and people can enjoy as much as they can. We will seek permissions from all authorities concerned and will perform even if permissions are denied," he added.
