China has assured Pakistan of its support in case of any foreign "aggression" and also stood in favour of the country's stance on the Kashmir dispute, a press release issued by the Punjab (Pakistan) Chief Minister's Office stated.

The message was conveyed during a meeting between Beijing's top diplomat and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

"In case of any [foreign] aggression our country will extend its full support to Pakistan... We're and will be siding with Pakistan on Kashmir issue...There is no justification for atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris in...[India-] held Kashmir and the Kashmir dispute should be solved in accordance with aspirations of the Kashmiris," Consul General of China in Lahore Yu Boren was quoted as saying by the CM Office on Friday, the Dawn reported.

Yu discussed about the current situation in India-held Kashmir and the progress on several projects that are a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while felicitating Sharif on his 65th birthday.

The country has also extended support to Pakistan at all international forums and has said that it would continue to do so.

A portion of the CPEC passes through a part of the disputed region due to which India has objected to the project, according to local media reports.

Relations between India and Pakistan have become tense since the terror attack on a heavily-guarded Army base in Uri district of Jammu and Kashmir claiming the lives of 18 Indian soldiers on 18 September.

India has blamed Pakistan for the attack. However, the country has denied all allegations of its involvement in the terrorist attack.
