While Chevrolet is getting ready to launch the Trailblazer SUV in India in October, a report from AutocarIndia indicates that the SUV will be sold only in two-wheel-drive (2WD) format. The report further explains that the car maker is currently focusing on buyers who mostly use the SUV on tarmac.
The likes of the segment, including Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour, comes with both 4WD and 2WD format. However, Chevrolet's decision to bring out only a 2WD variant seems to be logical as most of the SUV buyers of this segment hardly take their vehicles off-road.
But this doesn't mean that the Trailblazer, a full-size SUV, cannot go off-road. The India spec Trailblazer will get Hill Start Assist, Hill-Descent Control and will also have the capability to wade through 800mm of water, which are good enough for regular off-roaders.
The SUV will be powered by a second-generation 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that develops 197bhp of power at 3,600rpm and 500Nm of torque at 2,000rpm mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a segment-first six-speed automatic transmission.
This also means that the Trailblazer will be the most powerful vehicle in its segment when launched.
The SUV will have leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system with CD, USB, AUX, Bluetooth connectivity and much more.
The expected price for Trailblazer is hovering around Rs 29 lakh.
