The Parliament was disrupted on Thursday amid an uproar over the death of IAS officer DK Ravi in Bengaluru on Monday. Union home minister Rajnath Singh has assured that the Central government is ready to hand over the case to CBI as soon as it gets a confirmation from the Karnataka government.

"I spoke to the Karnataka chief minister and he said he will send a detailed report within a couple of days. If the state government wants (CBI probe), then as soon as I get a representation from them, we will be ready for a CBI inquiry," Hindustan Times quoted Singh as saying.

Singh said that he, along with some other Parliamentarians, met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding CBI inquiry into the young, illustrious IAS officer's death. "Some senior IAS officers have also raised this demand," he added.

However, CM Siddaramaiah was not convinced about ordering a CBI inquiry into the death of Ravi and maintained that the CID was well capable of handling the case. He was persuaded to call a meeting to rethink on his decision as several violent protests shook the state capital Bengaluru and Ravi's home town Tumkur in the past two days.

Additionally, he was also pressured by opposition parties, who called for dharnas in the state assembly for the third day on Thursday, due to which the proceedings at Vidhana Soudha were adjourned till 23 March.

Ravi, who busted sand mining and land mafia in Kolar district of Karnataka, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room at his apartment on Monday. Though the case has been termed as prima facie suicide by city police chief MN Reddi, Ravi's family has alleged murder.

They said that there was "political pressure" and Ravi was being targeted by a certain group.
