Canon released its next-generation DSLR camera from 5D series called the EOS 5D Mark IV on Thursday. It boasts of a 30.4 megapixel 35mm Full Frame Canon CMOS sensor that has the capacity to capture high quality images.

The new camera has a DIGIC 6+ Image processor that enables 4K 30P video recording and up to seven frames per second (fps) continuous shooting. It also features a Dual Pixel CMOS AF to ensure sharp focus and subject tracking while shooting 4K video.

"Canon's EOS 5D series of DSLR cameras has a history of being at the forefront of still and video innovation. And today, we add to this family of cameras the EOS 5D Mark IV– the first in our 5D series to offer 4K video and built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A, in a statement.

"In developing this new DSLR camera, we listened to the requests of current EOS users to create for them a modern, versatile camera designed to help them create and share beautiful still and video imagery," he added.

Canon also launched two new L-series EF lenses - the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens and EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Standard Zoom Lens - along with the EOS 5D Mark IV.

Pricing and availability

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera is scheduled to be released in the market in early September with an estimated price tag of $3,499 (Rs. 254 995) for the body only, and $4,399 (Rs. 306 995) with the EF24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens. The camera will also be available with the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens at $4,599 (Rs. 324 995) by late October.
