Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra starrer "Brothers" has opened to good response in India and the morning shows opened to approximately 40 to 50% occupancy in India.

"Brothers" has opened well in single screens, while at multiplexes the opening is decent. The opening day occupancy of "Brothers" is similar to Akshay's last outing "Gabbar Is Back", but the only difference is the latter was released on a partial holiday. i.e., on 1 May.

The film has been met with mixed response from critics and audiences on first day, but overall the buzz is high. The occupancy will increase further in the evening and night shows, which might help the film to have a decent opening day box office collection.

Looking at its occupancy report, "Brothers" is likely to have the second highest opening day box office collection. The biggest Bollywood opener of 2015 is Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" with Rs 27.25 crore.

Meanwhile, "Brothers" will witness a huge jump on its second day due to Independence Day holiday across the country.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles. The film, which is produced under Dharma Productions, is based on Mixed Martial arts (MMA).

For the movie, Sidharth had to gain 12 kgs, while Akshay had to lose 12 kgs. Sharing his experience about working with Akshay, Sidharth said that he learnt a lot from his "Brothers" co-star.

"We used Akshay sir's experience. He knows all the safety norms, which action will look right and what will be impactful. We enjoyed a lot and learnt a lot from Akshay sir. His time and team management behind the scenes was worth learning," Sidharth told IANS.
