Bollywood movie "Brothers" witnessed a massive jump at collection centres on its second day at the box office, registering close to 20% growth on Saturday, 15 August.

"Brothers" had raked in Rs.15.2 crore on its first day. The trade had predicted the movie would do well on Independence Day.  As expected, the film raked in Rs.21.43 crore on its second day to take its two days business to Rs.36.63 crore.

Confirming the news, leading trade tracker Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Brothers biz witnesses EXCELLENT growth on Sat. Fri 15.20 cr, Sat 21.43 cr. Total: ₹ 36.63 cr. Should have a STRONG Sunday too."

Another critic and trade tracker Joginder Tuteja had too predicted that the film could easily cross the Rs 20-crore mark on Saturday and come closer to Rs.22-24 crore.

"As expected, #Brothers takes a very good jump on Sat. Comfortably crosses 20 cr and expected to be in 22-24 cr range. Sunday should cross 20," he had tweeted. The good word-of-mouth and the holiday factor have helped the film to perform well at the collection centres.

However, Akshay Kumar has broken his previous two-day box-office record at the box office. The earlier best two-day box office collection record for an Akki movie was held by "Rowdy Rathore", which had minted Rs 29 crore.

Now, "Brothers" has comfortably surpassed this number. It has also broken the record of other Akshay Kumar movies "Baby", which earned Rs 20.47 crore and "Gabbar Singh", which collected Rs.24.20 crore in two days.

"Brothers" will be a memorable film for Sidharth Malhotra too as he has broken his previous two-day record set by his "Ek Villain", which had raked in Rs.32.22 crore.

The official worldwide two-day business figures of the latest flick are not yet out.

The trade is confident of "Brothers" having a good time at the box office on its third day (Sunday) also. The film could cross the Rs 50-crore mark, a feat achieved by few films so far this year.
